FFXIV gives players various methods to earn Gil, such as defeating enemies or participating in quests and activities.
Square Enix maintains strict End User License Agreement and Terms of Service rules against purchasing Gil with real currency, but there are legal ways of accumulating Gil without breaking these regulations.
Crafting
As in FFXIV, having large amounts of FFXIV gil is both rewarding and liberating – you have complete freedom over how you use them in game. From purchasing catchup gear for new dungeons or raids to stockpiling consumables for high-end content or simply spending it how it suits you best, Gil can give you freedom.
FFXIV makes this easier thanks to a robust set of small f14 gil sinks built into its core gameplay: quests award Gil, dungeon/raid boss chests offer rewards of Gil, and Duty Roulettes (usually the Adventurer in Need bonus + first run bonus that all roles get) can net a good amount per run.
Aetheryte Tickets provide another excellent Gil sink and can be bought with either Allied or Centurio Seals earned in ARR Hunts or Heavensward/Stormblood Hunts to be used to teleport around the game.
Gathering
Aspiring towards amassing a large sum of FFXIV gil is one of the main goals many players set themselves in Final Fantasy XIV, as this in-game currency is vital for purchasing gear and items; amassing such an amount requires patience and thoughtful planning.
Completing quests and grinding daily dailies are effective strategies for earning Gil, yet these activities can take time to complete. Luckily, the game offers several small Gil sinks built into core gameplay to help players increase their earnings of Gil.
As an omnicrafter, you can make money from selling Scrip materials and Mining nodes to other players at a profit. However, to do this successfully you must understand market price and demand so as to undercut other players in pricing their materials at lower costs than others can. In order to gather materials at night when most competitors will likely be asleep – that way your profits won’t suffer!
Quests
As in any MMO, core gameplay in Shadowbringers always provides something in return for the time and effort invested. Quests provide Gil rewards while Dungeon Chests may bring even more. Furthermore, Duty Roulettes (Allied for ARR hunts and Centurio for Shadowbringers raid boss fights) may yield generous returns in addition to providing you with experience points and combat power XP gained by running them.
An abundance of FFXIV gil can come in handy for many purposes, from porting around freely and purchasing catchup gear for current content, to simply having more fun playing Endwalker. A large bankroll allows you to customize how you run the game; having no restrictions whatsoever means there’s nothing stopping you from experiencing its true potential!
Dungeons
As with most MMOs, FFXIV requires some level of maintenance. Gearing and ticket costs quickly add up; thankfully there are plenty of small Gil sinks woven into core gameplay to help players keep tabs on expenses.
Challenge Log, Duty Roulettes and Guildleves provide players with opportunities to earn both GC seals and Gil. Guildleves and PvP also give them additional ways to do just that.
Market Board allows players to sell items at a profit and increase their gil balance quickly; but be careful – prices on this board may fluctuate rapidly!
Trading
Trade items is one of the few ways that high-level players in Final Fantasy XIV can make money, given there is no bank and storage off your character. Trading gear and materials on the Market Board is highly profitable yet risky – one should proceed cautiously when engaging in such activity.
All dungeons offer FFXIV gil rewards, along with many side quests and main story content. While NPC vendors sell normal quality gear, if you want HQ gear the only source is other players on the Market Board.
Traders specialize in buying and selling handcrafted gear, weapons, Materia, and Infrared materia for a profit. In addition, they’ll buy Infrared materia from other players to use in crafting gear – an effective way to quickly make gil. However, this requires inflating/deflating prices on the Market Board in order to be successful at it.
